Maxi Goodness

Just a short post as a follow up from my last, I mentioned that I was going to try on a maxi dress. I went and had a look and tried it on, I didn’t want to get my hopes up because I’ve tried on a zillion maxi dresses and they’re always quite unflattering on my body. They tend to flow out from under my bust and make me look 6 months pregnant, which is not a good look, unless you are actually 6 months pregnant.

This dress came as a refreshing surprise, it fits nicely and the design is quite flattering. Because of the ruching, (or whatever you want to call it) it sits firm on my top part then starts to gently flow out from my waist. The back straps actually extend into a tie which you wrap around your waist a couple of times, cinching it in. The back of it is my favourite part, the detail is almost grecian-like, it adds a nice twist to what would have been a simple design. It’s a bit long to wear with flat sandals so I will either have to always wear it with heels or make it a tad shorter. I would like to make it slightly shorter but I’m so lazy when it comes to altering things. I’ll probably get around to it in about a year or two, and by that time I probably won’t even like it anymore. So it’s probably staying long.

Bardot Maxi Dress

I spent last weekend in Adelaide catching up with some of my husband’s family. I had a short look around at some shops, nothing really that exciting. I did find quite a few nice boutiques along this one street but everything was super expensive and I was in a bit of a rush. I did find this bag, I was drawn to the tribal pattern. It’s quite funky, and I love the strong shape of it. At the time I had been carrying around a smallish bag and I was thinking how good it felt not to be dragging around a gigantic sack. So I’m quite excited to be adding this smaller bag to my collection.

That's about all for now!

Shopaholics Anonymous

Hello, my name is Ishia and I am a shopaholic. It’s been approximately 2 hours since my last purchase (at time of writing) and only a few days since I vowed not to buy anything more. I’ve been bad and I am slightly ashamed. This is what happens when I have no supervision and am left alone, so I could say that it’s not my fault. I could say that it’s my husband’s fault, if he didn’t work last night I would have gone straight home to meet him, but he was busy, and I was bored, so I went to the shop. I told myself I wouldn’t buy anything more for a while, and because I did I kind of feel like I have stolen something. I feel quite terrible in fact, but I think this is a good thing. Maybe I just needed to get this one last splurge out of my system and now I’m ready to stop?

So, ready for my justifications?!!

I really like the leggings/tights trend. Let me just clarify, I like leggings worn with a short dress or a long cardigan, etc. DEFINITELY not with a normal length top, leggings are for wearing underneath things, not as a pair of pants. I see too many girls who totally miss the point of leggings and it drives me nuts. There are a couple of exceptions however, wearing leggings with a top to the gym is totally acceptable and also if you are supermodel thin and they are a pair of totally chic leather or textured leggings, then I think that too is acceptable! So back to my justification, I wanted a cream dress to wear with black tights, and I found one in Forever New so I bought it. I’m going to see Cats this week so I think I might wear it then.

Cream Dress

I saw some black sandals in a Big W catalogue so I went to have a look. Turns out the sandals were horrible in real life (no surprises there), but I did find these black ankle boots, for $30 you can’t go wrong. I know I already have a pair of black ankle boots but these ones were too cute and cheap to pass up! I think I’ll wear them with the dress to Cats!

Black Ankle Boots

I wrote in my last post that I wanted a trench coat or cream coat. I feel like I have jumped the gun here and bought the first one I saw, but I really love this. It’s a trench coat but not the basic style you usually see. This one has little puffy shoulders and quite a full skirt so it’s more of a trench dress. It’s long enough to wear with just leggings and it has a navy and white striped lining on the cuffs which looks adorable if you roll up the sleeves, Hayley would approve! When I tried it on my heart melted which is why I bought it straight away without really looking at any others. Every time I picture it on I’m also wearing a little hat so I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for one that will compliment it.

Trench Coat

I bought all this stuff last Thursday and started writing this post that night. I was too lazy to finish it then and left it all weekend. Over the weekend I may have purchased something too. This was hugely influence by my husband. He told me to buy it, he really did! I was hesitant to spend that much money considering we don’t have much at the moment. It was on sale and he said I would regret it if I didn’t, so being a good wife I listened to my husband. I’ve wanted a leather black bag for a long time, I bought a Chloe one in Singapore at Christmas time which I do love but the shoulder strap is too small to actually put over your shoulder and it really frustrates me. The strap on this one is a great length and the leather is so soft and smells nice, I love the smell of new leather! When I went to pay for it I also grabbed a pair of gel heel grips, the shop assistant forgot to put them through with the bag so she just threw them in for free, score! I think it probably had something to do with the fact that I was wearing a pair of Mimco shoes and earrings and she was like wow, you must like Mimco! And yes indeed I do.

Mimco Day Bag

So that’s all from me for now. Last night I woke up and this thought popped into my head ‘I need a pink boyfriend blazer’. I don’t know where it came from and I keep thinking about it, I think it must be a sign? I would love one, I think it would look sweet with a pair of jeans and espadrilles or wedges, I keep picturing that way in my head, so I think I will keep my eyes out for one.

Bye bye for now!

Update
I've been requested to provide a few more details for the dress and trench coat in this post. The trench coat is by Bardot which I got from Myer, but I have seen it in the Bardot stores and it was $129.95. The silk dress from Forever New was $99.95 and it's called 'Drape Sleeve Mini Dress (DR2129) in Sahara Beige.

Hope this helps!

OOOOOOPPSSSY

So I may have spent more money, yes more money. Bad me, right? But I will say that this is it for a while. Work for my husband starts to dry up around this time of year which means we have to tighten the belt. But, we have had a lot of fun over the past couple of months. While we should have been doing the responsible thing and saved up a bit of money for when we are a bit short I have been spending! I have probably bought enough for a small town! Well, not quite but I am almost out of room in my wardrobe. I went through it last night and threw out a few pairs of shoes and a few items of clothing, but thats all I can spare, and it didn't create that much more room.

So, I was in Bardot a while ago, maybe a month or two and I saw this beautiful cardigan. It's covered in pearls and sequins and it weighs an absolute tonne! I tried it on for fun and absolutely loved. I didn't buy it because it was, as my husband says when something is really expensive 'chotto takai', which just means 'expensive' in japanese. He's learning japanese and likes to use random words every now and then. Anyway, back to the cardigan, so it was quite pricey therefore I didn't buy it that day. I was in Bardot again a week or so ago and it was on sale, 50% off. You may be thinking 'bargain' but not quite. It was still 'chotto takai' even with 50% off. After thinking about it for a few days I decided to go back and if they still had my size to purchase it. I really liked it and think it's such a classy piece of clothing. So I went back and they had my size so, voila:

P4020073

P4020077

I also bought the blouse underneath from Sportsgirl, they had 20% off storewide. So of course, I had to get something! I didn't get it to go with the cardigan but the two look quite charming together. The blouse has 3/4 puffy sleeves which reminds me of a pirate shirt. I didn't actually like the sleeves but when I was trying it on I kind of pulled them up to my elbows and sort of tucked them in and they looked good. I really like the front of the top and the length so those reasons won me over. It'll go with a lot of things in my wardrobe, I think it will look cute with a pair of jeans, some ankle boots and a thin studded waist belt to add a bit of edge and take away the girliness. So now I just need to get a studded belt!

That's me again for now!

Sayonara!

Goodbye $$$

I really love Mink Pink! I am so excited and happy with their fall collection. It is very edgy lots of zips, studs and rips! I know my wish list says that I would like the entire collection (I really do like everything) but I am not sure if this will actually happen! I am pleased to say that I did start off my Mink Pink collection with 3 black skirts! They are all short and as I am not really friends with my legs at the moment I was hesitant to try them on however I did and I was pleasantly surprised. I usually wear short skirts and dresses anyhow but was trying to find something longer that sat just above the knee but I can't pull it off.. I look like a frumpy roast pork. I am happy with the ones I found today and as the weather gets too cold for short skirts I guess I shall just feed my obsession with tights!

Skirts

Speaking of tights I was in the city and stopped in at Alannah Hill to check out their tights! They actually have some really nice ones! Saw at least 3 pairs I want! I walked away with this pair though... They are called lighter than air thigh high! I love them because it looks like they stop after the lacey knee but they dont!

Alannah Hill Tights

Sportsgirl! Well what can I say here... I love u! I tried on so much stuff in there today! I walked in there after I had been to the gym so here I was looking not too glamorous going in and out of the change room fifty million times lugging my huge gym bag! Everytime I tried something on I had to take my shoes off! Kind of reminded me of Japan! They have this awesome leather jacket which I like better than the Forever New one I wanted so lucky I didn't rush out and buy the first one I saw! I also loved the Audrey Hepburn style jacket I saw in there.. was really really nice.. something totally different to what I would usually wear! And totally different to the theme I wanted to go with this winter.. maybe I can combine the two.. that would make me a grungey Audrey Hepburn in studded heels!
So what did I actually buy?? An oatmeal coloured top which could be classed as a blouse (a nice one tho!), silver chained long drop necklace and a light purply flowered headband!
I shall most definitely be a regular of Sportsgirl in the coming weeks!

Oatmeal top

Necklace

Headband

There was also this really cute book I got the other day! It is by Caroline Cox and is called... How to be Adored.... A girl's guide to Hollywood Glamour! It is seriously so cute! It is pretty much all about old school Hollywood style icons and adopting that style in today's society, with the likes of Audrey Hepburn, Mae West, Jackie O and who could forget Marilyn Monroe! Some of it is really funny.. there is this bit that tells you how to wash your face like Marilyn Monroe! hahah Overall it is an interesting read plus it's pink! :-)

How to be adored

So I'm looking at my wish list and I have sort of started getting bits and pieces from it.... Mink Pink... tights.... that's about it! I should stick to what's on the list from now on! There is sooooo much I want to buy... I should save the $$$ but where is the fun in that!

Happy shopping!

And the list goes on.....

So, I managed to buy a few things from my wish list this weekend but I was faced with a huge problem.... I found many more things to add. So now it’s probably as big or bigger than it ever was. I’ve actually spent a lot of money over the last few weeks so I’m kind of annoyed at myself for always wanting more! I guess it’s that shopping gene I inherited! I’m going to try slow down a bit and save some money over the next month or so... For what you may ask? For a shopping spree of course! What a silly question of you to ask!

This is what I managed to invest in over the weekend...

Jacket

I saw this jacket towards the start of this year and it’s always been in the back of my mind. I decided to get it so it would stop nagging at me! I found it on the rack and it had been marked down to $59.95...pretty good I thought (I think it was originally $79.95). When the shop assistant scanned it she informed me it was now $20... Yes $20!! This is probably the best bargain I’ve scored all year! I really like it because of the pattern in the fabric and also the cut, a nice twist on your traditional black blazer.

pretty tights

A bit like Tris, I went a bit tight mad this weekend and walked away with 3 pairs. I saw a cream pair of lace tights in the latest issue of Shop Til You Drop. When I went to Alannah Hill they didn’t have them, which didn’t really surprise me. Perth shops don’t tend to stock a lot of things I see in magazines which is a great shame. While I was looking in Forever New I found these 2 pairs. I couldn’t decide which ones I liked more so I decided to get both!

polka dot tights

I picked these Leona Edmiston tights up from Myer. They’re very cute and I really can’t wait to wear them. This weekend is going to be very hot so the first wear may be a few weeks off yet. But, at least I have them!

Patent pumps

My new shiny shoes! I originally wanted them in cream but they didn’t have my size. I equally like the beige colour though. Rachel Zoe said a pair of nude pumps are a must have in every woman’s wardrobe so I trust her! The nude goes with almost every colour so I don’t think you can go wrong. A good thing about heels is they go with everything! These days you can wear a t-shirt, jeans and heels and look fashion forward and chic, then of course they would go well with any dress or skirt. And because they have a closed toe.... TIGHTS anyone?

Lacey top

This top is super pretty. The photo doesn’t do it any justice at all. It’s kind of crossed between a light grey and a violet then the back has a big exposed zip from the neck to the bottom of the top. I’m not sure what colour to wear under it though, I tried a white singlet but that stood out too much. In the pic I have a skin colour singlet on but I don’t think I like this colour with it either. I’m thinking maybe a grey?

So they were my buys from the weekend. I also got the grey tee from my wish list and a couple of bloom nail polishes. I’m also thinking of going back to Alannah Hill to buy a pair of pretty flower earrings I saw but we’ll see. I have a few packages that should be arriving in the next few weeks, some jewellery from Anthropologie, a new pink laptop and I may have accidentally purchased those Dior sunglasses from my wish list. With all of that plus my buys from the weekend I have well and truly blown my budget.... Well, not that I actually give myself a budget but I’ve spend more than enough.....for today anyway :)
