Maxi Goodness

Just a short post as a follow up from my last, I mentioned that I was going to try on a maxi dress. I went and had a look and tried it on, I didn’t want to get my hopes up because I’ve tried on a zillion maxi dresses and they’re always quite unflattering on my body. They tend to flow out from under my bust and make me look 6 months pregnant, which is not a good look, unless you are actually 6 months pregnant.

This dress came as a refreshing surprise, it fits nicely and the design is quite flattering. Because of the ruching, (or whatever you want to call it) it sits firm on my top part then starts to gently flow out from my waist. The back straps actually extend into a tie which you wrap around your waist a couple of times, cinching it in. The back of it is my favourite part, the detail is almost grecian-like, it adds a nice twist to what would have been a simple design. It’s a bit long to wear with flat sandals so I will either have to always wear it with heels or make it a tad shorter. I would like to make it slightly shorter but I’m so lazy when it comes to altering things. I’ll probably get around to it in about a year or two, and by that time I probably won’t even like it anymore. So it’s probably staying long.

Bardot Maxi Dress

I spent last weekend in Adelaide catching up with some of my husband’s family. I had a short look around at some shops, nothing really that exciting. I did find quite a few nice boutiques along this one street but everything was super expensive and I was in a bit of a rush. I did find this bag, I was drawn to the tribal pattern. It’s quite funky, and I love the strong shape of it. At the time I had been carrying around a smallish bag and I was thinking how good it felt not to be dragging around a gigantic sack. So I’m quite excited to be adding this smaller bag to my collection.

That's about all for now!

Bargains Galore

Hello there!!

I finally have some exciting things to blog about! It’s been a bit quiet on here lately, but hopefully that’s all about to change because it’s sale season! I’ve managed to pick up a few great bargains, and hopefully Hayley and Trista will too!

Let’s start with a favourite, Mimco. Oh Mimco, I am so in love with all your beautiful and wonderful things. To my delight, they were having a sale so I had to drop in to have a bit of a looksy. I could have bought so much, like at least 10 things. But, I had to control myself and I ended up walking away with only 3 things. Yes, only 3 things, it hardly seems worth it doesn’t it?! I’ll give you a bit of a squiz…

Mimco jewellery

Mimco brown bag

I’ve already worn/used all the items and I love them all, which is not a surprise because Mimco does not disappoint. Sometimes when I know I’m going to look in a Mimco store I have to make sure I’m not wearing too many Mimco items, otherwise I feel a bit over the top and a tad obsessed. Once I went into a store and I think I had a bag, shoes and a pair of earrings, the shop assistant was like ‘nice bag, oh and shoes, oh and earrings’. I felt a bit silly! So back to my things, I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to buy a brown bag, it goes with everything, I mean everything! This bag will definitely be getting a lot of use. The sparkly ball earrings, which are quite large and heavy, I saw a while back and have wanted to get them ever since. I’m glad I waited it out, $130 down to $55! The necklace, which I was actually going to get in black and gold but changed my mind at the last minute, and so glad I did, was like $170 or something down to $50! Major bargains!

Let’s move onto something just as exciting as jewellery and bags….. SHOES!

Blue Rubi shoes

Sportsgirl shoes

The blue heels are just a pair of cheapies from Rubi Shoes, $20! I don’t expect them to last me a long time but I thought they would be nice to wear every now and then to brighten an outfit and add a pop of colour.

The black heels, absolutely love love! I saw them and fell in love instantly. I didn’t buy them straight away, I wanted to make sure I really did love them and wasn’t just lust. After a couple of days I couldn’t get them out of my head so I knew it was love. I wore them on the weekend and I couldn’t stop looking at them, if they weren’t so high I would be wearing them every day!

I’ve been looking at my wardrobe lately and it’s looking very dark, lots of black and grey. I felt I needed to lighten the mood of it a bit. I get a lot of inspiration from magazines, I often see things in them I like then try find similar items. I’ve been wanting something leather for a while now, and I didn’t want to buy just the typical black leather jacket. I have a fake leather one that does the job just fine! I saw a light beige coloured jacket in a magazine a while ago, I think it was on Beyonce! Anyway, it stuck in my mind and thought it would be great if I could find something similar.

I wasn’t really looking for one or anything in particular when I came across this, so it was a bit of a nice surprise! I feel I haven’t really had any big buys for a while. I tried it on and I really liked it, it surprised me that it fit so well because most things in Forever New seem to be made for non-human bodies and never fit properly. I was a bit hesitant to buy it because of the price, I know leather isn’t cheap but I wasn’t quite expecting to spend that much money that day. I think I was in the change room for about half an hour trying to decide. I wanted to sleep on it but it was the last one in my size. I decided to take the plunge and just go for it, and turns out I made the right choice, it scanned up at about 45% off! I thought that the girl may have made a mistake because it didn’t have a discount sticker and had no indication that it was discounted. I felt like the lady in those funny Ikea adds, the one where she thinks they make a mistake at the register and runs out the store screaming at her husband to drive!

So, this is the jacket…..

Leather jacket

I love the frill along the front, it adds softness and the shoulders are gathered which makes it look very cutesy. I feel it’s a girly leather jacket, most leather jackets can be really biker chick, which is fine if you’re in the mood but I like to mix it up and go for a more girly style sometimes.

So, I think I should stop buying jackets, shoes and anything Mimco for the time being because I have so many of each! I’m still thinking about all those other wonderful things I saw in Mimco….sigh.

I have a couple more things to show you so check back soon.

Buy Buy for now, don’t forget to check out the June sales!

Shopaholics Anonymous

Hello, my name is Ishia and I am a shopaholic. It’s been approximately 2 hours since my last purchase (at time of writing) and only a few days since I vowed not to buy anything more. I’ve been bad and I am slightly ashamed. This is what happens when I have no supervision and am left alone, so I could say that it’s not my fault. I could say that it’s my husband’s fault, if he didn’t work last night I would have gone straight home to meet him, but he was busy, and I was bored, so I went to the shop. I told myself I wouldn’t buy anything more for a while, and because I did I kind of feel like I have stolen something. I feel quite terrible in fact, but I think this is a good thing. Maybe I just needed to get this one last splurge out of my system and now I’m ready to stop?

So, ready for my justifications?!!

I really like the leggings/tights trend. Let me just clarify, I like leggings worn with a short dress or a long cardigan, etc. DEFINITELY not with a normal length top, leggings are for wearing underneath things, not as a pair of pants. I see too many girls who totally miss the point of leggings and it drives me nuts. There are a couple of exceptions however, wearing leggings with a top to the gym is totally acceptable and also if you are supermodel thin and they are a pair of totally chic leather or textured leggings, then I think that too is acceptable! So back to my justification, I wanted a cream dress to wear with black tights, and I found one in Forever New so I bought it. I’m going to see Cats this week so I think I might wear it then.

Cream Dress

I saw some black sandals in a Big W catalogue so I went to have a look. Turns out the sandals were horrible in real life (no surprises there), but I did find these black ankle boots, for $30 you can’t go wrong. I know I already have a pair of black ankle boots but these ones were too cute and cheap to pass up! I think I’ll wear them with the dress to Cats!

Black Ankle Boots

I wrote in my last post that I wanted a trench coat or cream coat. I feel like I have jumped the gun here and bought the first one I saw, but I really love this. It’s a trench coat but not the basic style you usually see. This one has little puffy shoulders and quite a full skirt so it’s more of a trench dress. It’s long enough to wear with just leggings and it has a navy and white striped lining on the cuffs which looks adorable if you roll up the sleeves, Hayley would approve! When I tried it on my heart melted which is why I bought it straight away without really looking at any others. Every time I picture it on I’m also wearing a little hat so I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for one that will compliment it.

Trench Coat

I bought all this stuff last Thursday and started writing this post that night. I was too lazy to finish it then and left it all weekend. Over the weekend I may have purchased something too. This was hugely influence by my husband. He told me to buy it, he really did! I was hesitant to spend that much money considering we don’t have much at the moment. It was on sale and he said I would regret it if I didn’t, so being a good wife I listened to my husband. I’ve wanted a leather black bag for a long time, I bought a Chloe one in Singapore at Christmas time which I do love but the shoulder strap is too small to actually put over your shoulder and it really frustrates me. The strap on this one is a great length and the leather is so soft and smells nice, I love the smell of new leather! When I went to pay for it I also grabbed a pair of gel heel grips, the shop assistant forgot to put them through with the bag so she just threw them in for free, score! I think it probably had something to do with the fact that I was wearing a pair of Mimco shoes and earrings and she was like wow, you must like Mimco! And yes indeed I do.

Mimco Day Bag

So that’s all from me for now. Last night I woke up and this thought popped into my head ‘I need a pink boyfriend blazer’. I don’t know where it came from and I keep thinking about it, I think it must be a sign? I would love one, I think it would look sweet with a pair of jeans and espadrilles or wedges, I keep picturing that way in my head, so I think I will keep my eyes out for one.

Bye bye for now!

Update
I've been requested to provide a few more details for the dress and trench coat in this post. The trench coat is by Bardot which I got from Myer, but I have seen it in the Bardot stores and it was $129.95. The silk dress from Forever New was $99.95 and it's called 'Drape Sleeve Mini Dress (DR2129) in Sahara Beige.

Hope this helps!

I did a bag, bag thing!

I'm not meant to be spending any money at the moment, meant to be saving for that shopping spree (what a joke....)! But I found an item on my wish list! The tan bag! Yay! This was beginning to pose a problem, I often find it difficult to find bags I really like. I like them to have a bit of personality, a bit eye catching. The last bag I bought was in Singapore, the one before that in Japan (numerous actually) so you kind of get the drift. I only ever find bags I like overseas. I was starting to think I would either have to go overseas to find a new bag, spend thousands on a miu miu one or just keep recycling the one's I have (boring). But luckily I found this (For the record, I would much rather a miu miu but we'll have to save for that)!

Nude Handbag

I got it from Forever New. It's actually more a nude than a tan, but the colour is great and it goes with a lot. I didn't want anything too brown or dark. Studs are a strong trend at the moment, studs are on everything and everywhere! Clothes, bags, shoes and jewellery. The studs on this bag gives it a chic biker look I think....love it!

Sooooo.... When I was in Forever New I saw another bag I equally liked. I didn't get it at the time because I had the tan bag on my wish list and not a grey one. After giving it some thought I decided to get this one too. I do have a lot of bags but I don't tend to buy them all the time. Only really when I go on holidays so I thought I'd get this one too because who knows when I will find another bag I like and my next holiday isn't for another 5 months. FYI, I can justify ANY purchase!

Grey Handbag

This one too is studded, but it also has sparkly crystals which gives it a more girly look than the tan bag. I think it'll add some jazz to a more plain outfit. I'm picturing it with leggings a long cardigan and boots or even jeans, a plain baggy tee and maybe a scarf or beret.

Thank you Forever New for your cool bags this season!

Until next time.....which won't be very far away!
