Latest Shopping News

Guess what? You will never believe this… I bought my first piece of red clothing, as in ever. Well, first piece of clothing that I have wanted to wear. My primary school uniform was red and I think I had a red cardigan when I was 6 which my Mum knitted, but they are the only times I can remember owning red clothing. And now that I think about it, I’m probably not attracted to red because I wore it 5 days a week for 8 years.

I don’t really have anything against red clothing, I think it looks great when I see it on other people, I just don’t really like it on me. I even feel a bit self conscious when I wear red nail polish, and it’s not because it’s bright, I feel perfectly normal wearing fluro pink on my nails. It’s just one of those weird things I guess, maybe I have a red phobia? Come to think of it, I never used to wear black either, the first time I wore a lot of black in one outfit was probably 4 or 5 years ago. I even remember the first black top I bought, I still have it! Anyway, yeah, I’m weird.

I have had a small breakthrough, I bought something red! It’s mixed with white so it’s not entirely red, but at least we’re half way there. Well, red is more dominant on this piece of clothing, so I’d say we’re almost there!

Kimono

It’s kind of like a kimono shape, isn’t it pretty? It’s very floaty and feminine, I’m really looking forward to wearing this. I hope the weather warms up fast so I can. I’m going to Singapore in a couple of days so it’ll get its first wear then. Yippeeee, warm weather! I’m not quite sure what to wear it with though, maybe a pair of denim shorts and sandals? Or even over a dress? The picture on the Sportsgirl website has the model wearing it with a pair of army green skinny cargo pants, which works, but I don’t think I can pull of a pair of skinny cargo pants. So if you have suggestions, let me know!

While I’m here I guess I’ll also show you a bag I also bought. I was on the prowl for this, not this one in particular, but a cream leather duffel bag. Kind of funny that I found it only weeks after thinking that I wanted one. And I wasn’t really on the prowl, I just saw this while looking for nothing in particular. It was about 50% off, so that was pretty awesome! It’s not a real Balenciaga (I wish), it’s from Witchery.

Duffle Bag

I actually started writing the above comments a couple of weeks ago, yes, I’ve been very lazy with blogging! I have a couple more things that I have bought in the mean time. I am trying to get as much shopping in as possible, because in a couple of weeks, when I get back from holidays, it’s serious saving time! We really need to do a few things around the house, and we need to start saving for our next holiday, so no more crazy splurging from me for a while. But we all know I’m not good with keeping shopping promises!

Okay, I’m not sure if you read my post a few weeks ago about the frenzy I was in over the new Mimco collection? Anyway, I have calmed down considerable since then, hallelujah! And I have only bought one item! Which is a bit boring considering I was ready to buy a Mimco franchise, but it is good for my bank balance. However, I have been secretly waiting until I get to Singapore, I’m really wishing it’s cheaper over there, but I don’t think it will be. I will be on holidays though, so that will justify any amount of Mimco purchases.

I got these gold hoop earrings, an item to cross of my wishlist! I love Mimco earrings, I think I have 4 pairs now. You can’t really see in the picture but the crystals are a pale pink, sort of champagne colour and they’re very sparkly. I really love them and I’m so happy that I now have a pair of hold earrings! My gold jewellery collection is slowly building.

Hoops

My next purchase is also an item from my wishlist… The clog! You either love them or you despise them, I happen to love them and are happily embracing their revival. I decided to go with a peep toe style, so I can wear them all summer long baby! I’m thinking I should wear them to death this summer because next year they will probably be really uncool. They’re probably one of those fashion fads where you look back at in a few years and think ‘what the heck was I thinking?’. I’m going to have fun with them this season, and at least in a couple of years I’ll have something to laugh at, fashion is fun! I’m now recalling a pair of foam platform sneakers I had, I got them when the Spice Girls we’re big, I loved them. Oh golly, if only I had taken some pictures I could post them for your entertainment. And we all remember Jelly’s, I had a blue pair and a clear glitter pair, my sister had a pink glitter pair which I wanted, she was the tom boy so I don’t know how she ended up with the pink pair? So unfair.

Anyway, I’ll show you my new clogs!

Clogs

I’m going to sign off now because I really need to get back to work. I’m going away tomorrow, I’m so darn excited! I should come back with some things to blog about (possibly even a Miu Miu bag, but not getting my hopes up!) so I’ll touch base in a couple of weeks!!

Wishful thinking…

I felt like writing a little post to hopefully cheer me up. I thought that maybe if I talk through my dilemma with you I may feel a bit better at the end, kind of like therapy I guess. So, this is the problem eating at me….

Mimco are starting to release items from their new season collection, I think you now know where this is going? I’ve seen about 15 new pieces… And from those 15 pieces guess how many I NEED to have….?? Yes, you guessed it, 15! I’ll name a few just from the top of my head, about 3 bags, a scarf, a pair of sunglasses (yes, Mimco are now making sunglasses), a cuff, a couple of pairs of earrings, etc, etc, etc… Oh and shoes, etc, etc…. My head feels like it’s going to explode with all these thoughts and images of me decked out in all this new Mimco gear.

Their new collection is titled ‘An Unpredictable Revolution’. It’s not very unpredictable if you ask me, I already knew every piece was going to be great and totally awesome. Gosh Mimco, maybe you should make really dumb stuff, that would be unpredictable, and then my problem would be resolved. My heart wouldn’t be racing and my head wouldn’t be exploding at the thought of all these new pieces. On a more serious note, the title does actually fit with a lot their new pieces. Some of them are actually unpredictable, I’ve oooooooooo’d at the pictures in surprise. They still have the Mimco signature look and feel but they are different in a way. And did I mention, AMAZING?

Maybe Mimco should compensate me in a way, all this stress they’re causing me. It’s going to take me days, even possibly weeks to decided on which item to buy first, and it’s literally all I will think about in that time. I’m going to go have a look at what they have in store so far, then maybe I’ll write a list so I don’t forget it all. It would be tragedy to miss out on something. Maybe I’ll post my list and you can help me decide on what to get first? Better idea, maybe I could sell a dog or my car so I can afford to buy them all? Or better yet, maybe I should buy a Mimco shop, in the long run it will probably work out cheaper. Oh wait, I already have a Mimco shop in my wardrobe.

I’m now going to curl up under my desk and weep about all the Mimco things I don’t have.

Bargains Galore

Hello there!!

I finally have some exciting things to blog about! It’s been a bit quiet on here lately, but hopefully that’s all about to change because it’s sale season! I’ve managed to pick up a few great bargains, and hopefully Hayley and Trista will too!

Let’s start with a favourite, Mimco. Oh Mimco, I am so in love with all your beautiful and wonderful things. To my delight, they were having a sale so I had to drop in to have a bit of a looksy. I could have bought so much, like at least 10 things. But, I had to control myself and I ended up walking away with only 3 things. Yes, only 3 things, it hardly seems worth it doesn’t it?! I’ll give you a bit of a squiz…

Mimco jewellery

Mimco brown bag

I’ve already worn/used all the items and I love them all, which is not a surprise because Mimco does not disappoint. Sometimes when I know I’m going to look in a Mimco store I have to make sure I’m not wearing too many Mimco items, otherwise I feel a bit over the top and a tad obsessed. Once I went into a store and I think I had a bag, shoes and a pair of earrings, the shop assistant was like ‘nice bag, oh and shoes, oh and earrings’. I felt a bit silly! So back to my things, I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to buy a brown bag, it goes with everything, I mean everything! This bag will definitely be getting a lot of use. The sparkly ball earrings, which are quite large and heavy, I saw a while back and have wanted to get them ever since. I’m glad I waited it out, $130 down to $55! The necklace, which I was actually going to get in black and gold but changed my mind at the last minute, and so glad I did, was like $170 or something down to $50! Major bargains!

Let’s move onto something just as exciting as jewellery and bags….. SHOES!

Blue Rubi shoes

Sportsgirl shoes

The blue heels are just a pair of cheapies from Rubi Shoes, $20! I don’t expect them to last me a long time but I thought they would be nice to wear every now and then to brighten an outfit and add a pop of colour.

The black heels, absolutely love love! I saw them and fell in love instantly. I didn’t buy them straight away, I wanted to make sure I really did love them and wasn’t just lust. After a couple of days I couldn’t get them out of my head so I knew it was love. I wore them on the weekend and I couldn’t stop looking at them, if they weren’t so high I would be wearing them every day!

I’ve been looking at my wardrobe lately and it’s looking very dark, lots of black and grey. I felt I needed to lighten the mood of it a bit. I get a lot of inspiration from magazines, I often see things in them I like then try find similar items. I’ve been wanting something leather for a while now, and I didn’t want to buy just the typical black leather jacket. I have a fake leather one that does the job just fine! I saw a light beige coloured jacket in a magazine a while ago, I think it was on Beyonce! Anyway, it stuck in my mind and thought it would be great if I could find something similar.

I wasn’t really looking for one or anything in particular when I came across this, so it was a bit of a nice surprise! I feel I haven’t really had any big buys for a while. I tried it on and I really liked it, it surprised me that it fit so well because most things in Forever New seem to be made for non-human bodies and never fit properly. I was a bit hesitant to buy it because of the price, I know leather isn’t cheap but I wasn’t quite expecting to spend that much money that day. I think I was in the change room for about half an hour trying to decide. I wanted to sleep on it but it was the last one in my size. I decided to take the plunge and just go for it, and turns out I made the right choice, it scanned up at about 45% off! I thought that the girl may have made a mistake because it didn’t have a discount sticker and had no indication that it was discounted. I felt like the lady in those funny Ikea adds, the one where she thinks they make a mistake at the register and runs out the store screaming at her husband to drive!

So, this is the jacket…..

Leather jacket

I love the frill along the front, it adds softness and the shoulders are gathered which makes it look very cutesy. I feel it’s a girly leather jacket, most leather jackets can be really biker chick, which is fine if you’re in the mood but I like to mix it up and go for a more girly style sometimes.

So, I think I should stop buying jackets, shoes and anything Mimco for the time being because I have so many of each! I’m still thinking about all those other wonderful things I saw in Mimco….sigh.

I have a couple more things to show you so check back soon.

Buy Buy for now, don’t forget to check out the June sales!

Shopaholics Anonymous

Hello, my name is Ishia and I am a shopaholic. It’s been approximately 2 hours since my last purchase (at time of writing) and only a few days since I vowed not to buy anything more. I’ve been bad and I am slightly ashamed. This is what happens when I have no supervision and am left alone, so I could say that it’s not my fault. I could say that it’s my husband’s fault, if he didn’t work last night I would have gone straight home to meet him, but he was busy, and I was bored, so I went to the shop. I told myself I wouldn’t buy anything more for a while, and because I did I kind of feel like I have stolen something. I feel quite terrible in fact, but I think this is a good thing. Maybe I just needed to get this one last splurge out of my system and now I’m ready to stop?

So, ready for my justifications?!!

I really like the leggings/tights trend. Let me just clarify, I like leggings worn with a short dress or a long cardigan, etc. DEFINITELY not with a normal length top, leggings are for wearing underneath things, not as a pair of pants. I see too many girls who totally miss the point of leggings and it drives me nuts. There are a couple of exceptions however, wearing leggings with a top to the gym is totally acceptable and also if you are supermodel thin and they are a pair of totally chic leather or textured leggings, then I think that too is acceptable! So back to my justification, I wanted a cream dress to wear with black tights, and I found one in Forever New so I bought it. I’m going to see Cats this week so I think I might wear it then.

Cream Dress

I saw some black sandals in a Big W catalogue so I went to have a look. Turns out the sandals were horrible in real life (no surprises there), but I did find these black ankle boots, for $30 you can’t go wrong. I know I already have a pair of black ankle boots but these ones were too cute and cheap to pass up! I think I’ll wear them with the dress to Cats!

Black Ankle Boots

I wrote in my last post that I wanted a trench coat or cream coat. I feel like I have jumped the gun here and bought the first one I saw, but I really love this. It’s a trench coat but not the basic style you usually see. This one has little puffy shoulders and quite a full skirt so it’s more of a trench dress. It’s long enough to wear with just leggings and it has a navy and white striped lining on the cuffs which looks adorable if you roll up the sleeves, Hayley would approve! When I tried it on my heart melted which is why I bought it straight away without really looking at any others. Every time I picture it on I’m also wearing a little hat so I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for one that will compliment it.

Trench Coat

I bought all this stuff last Thursday and started writing this post that night. I was too lazy to finish it then and left it all weekend. Over the weekend I may have purchased something too. This was hugely influence by my husband. He told me to buy it, he really did! I was hesitant to spend that much money considering we don’t have much at the moment. It was on sale and he said I would regret it if I didn’t, so being a good wife I listened to my husband. I’ve wanted a leather black bag for a long time, I bought a Chloe one in Singapore at Christmas time which I do love but the shoulder strap is too small to actually put over your shoulder and it really frustrates me. The strap on this one is a great length and the leather is so soft and smells nice, I love the smell of new leather! When I went to pay for it I also grabbed a pair of gel heel grips, the shop assistant forgot to put them through with the bag so she just threw them in for free, score! I think it probably had something to do with the fact that I was wearing a pair of Mimco shoes and earrings and she was like wow, you must like Mimco! And yes indeed I do.

Mimco Day Bag

So that’s all from me for now. Last night I woke up and this thought popped into my head ‘I need a pink boyfriend blazer’. I don’t know where it came from and I keep thinking about it, I think it must be a sign? I would love one, I think it would look sweet with a pair of jeans and espadrilles or wedges, I keep picturing that way in my head, so I think I will keep my eyes out for one.

Bye bye for now!

Update
I've been requested to provide a few more details for the dress and trench coat in this post. The trench coat is by Bardot which I got from Myer, but I have seen it in the Bardot stores and it was $129.95. The silk dress from Forever New was $99.95 and it's called 'Drape Sleeve Mini Dress (DR2129) in Sahara Beige.

Hope this helps!

But, they had a sale......

I knew that I should have stayed away but I so very easily gave in.... I just wanted to go in and have a little look, a quick look then I was going to leave....and I did. But then I was drawn back, like a magnet, like a moth to the light, it was so strong. And then my card somehow came out my purse, I swear I didn't help it, it just did it itself. And that was the end, and this is what became of my terrible experience.

Mimco earrings

A breathtaking pair of Mimco boho tribal inspired earrings, and

Mimco bracelet

A beautiful Mimco twisted shell and chain bracelet.

Lucky the shopping phantom has good taste. Let's hope I have this luck next time.... I mean let's hope this doesn't happen again because it was such a frightening experience.

Stay safe fellow shoppers...

Shoe Affair

A few years back I used to buy shoes all the time, in recent years I’ve slowed down and have thrown out a lot of those shoes. I would still buy a pair here and there but nothing excessive. Judging from the 5 pairs of shoes I have bought in the last month and a half I have a feeling my shoe affair has returned. I think it stemmed from my recent trip to Singapore in December where there were shoe shops galore. I only bought 3 pairs (all a size too small may I add) but seeing the multitude of shoes did get me thinking....and looking! So now I look in every shoe shop I pass plus every online shop I stumble upon. Shoes are very beautiful and there are many wonderful pairs out there so I’m going to embrace my new found shoe affair and have fun with it!

Do you ever see something so divine that it, in a way, takes your breath away? This pair of shoes did it to me. I fell in love with them the instant I saw them. I don’t think I need to go into much detail or explain why, I’m sure the picture speaks for itself! They’re called ‘Rocker Stud Ballet’ from Mimco. I saw them a couple of weeks ago and have been patiently waiting to get them and it paid off. They were $100 off! The shop assistant was a bit surprised as she said they were new stock and didn’t understand why they were discounted, I guess sometimes it pays to be patient.

P3070038

The second pair I got this weekend are a pair of totally awesome ankle boots! I saved $100 on the Mimco flats so this purchase is totally justified (let’s pretend I didn’t buy these before the flats). They’re almost identical to a pair I saw in Hobbs a few weeks back but without the price tag! I’m so happy with these. They’re a great height so I can wear them out casually or dressed up, with jeans, leggings, skirts, dresses or shorts. So versatile! I really want a pair of dark grey wool shorts to wear them with in winter, I’ll have to add that to my wish list! Oh, they’re from Forever New in case you were wondering.

P3070044

So, that’s all from me for now!

I think Trista and Hayley are going to have to pick up their game!! Trista says she is on an 8 week shopping ban, so I guess it’s up to Hayley! However Hayley has posted quite a lot.....so maybe it’s back to me?

P.S. I have found 2 pairs of shoes from Victoria’s Secret that I want, but unfortunately 1 pair doesn’t ship until May 2010? The first is a pair of espadrilles with black suede straps and the second is a pair of bright pink suede pump wooden platforms! So I’ll have to wait until May to get these....

P.P.S. I saw a girl wearing the most perfect shoes the other day. They were black suede peep toe wedges, the wedge was only a couple of cm’s high and it was in the same suede as the shoe. I regret not stopping her and asking where she got them from. So, if you do spot a similar pair PLEASE LET ME KNOW! I would be eternally grateful!
